To further enhance students’ awareness of safety prevention, improve their ability to identify and respond to telecom and online fraud, and effectively safeguard students’ personal and financial security, our college recently organized themed class meetings on “Preventing Telecom and Online Fraud” across all classes. The initiative aimed to guide students in establishing correct safety awareness and strengthening their self-protection capabilities.
The meetings focused on common types of telecom and online fraud frequently encountered on university campuses, with emphasis on typical cases such as fake online part-time job and rebate scams, impersonation of customer service for refund scams, fraudulent online loan schemes, scams impersonating acquaintances or teachers, and so-called “romance scams.” Through analyses of real cases and scenario-based explanations, students gained an intuitive understanding of the common tactics and persuasive techniques used by fraudsters, and further recognized the hidden, diverse, and highly deceptive nature of telecom and online fraud.
During the discussion session, students shared their insights and experiences related to fraud prevention based on their personal encounters and daily internet usage. They generally agreed on the importance of staying vigilant in daily study and life, avoiding blind trust in unfamiliar calls or messages, refraining from clicking unknown links, and never disclosing personal information or verification codes. Students also emphasized the need to verify suspicious situations promptly and seek assistance when necessary. In some classes, students collectively studied national anti-fraud resources and were encouraged to actively download and use official anti-fraud applications to further strengthen their security defenses.
Through the implementation of these themed class meetings, students developed a clearer understanding of the risks posed by telecom and online fraud and the key measures for prevention, effectively enhancing their safety awareness and risk-prevention capabilities. The college will continue to strengthen safety education efforts, promote regular and long-term anti-fraud awareness campaigns, and work diligently to create a safe, stable, and harmonious campus environment for all students.
